Jimmy Threepwood And The Veil of Darkness by Rich Pitman

20 Aug

Yep, serious about fighting this fear. Still have not sunk my teeth into this one but it looks fabulous. It’s a children’s book too-like Harry Potter- or so my cute neighbour tells me, which means we can all read it.

Anyways this is the first book in a series and I don’t think it’s out on paperback yet. however, I’ll link you to your digital copy as we wait.

Jimmy Threepwood And The Veil of Darkness by Rich Pitman

book description:

Many centuries ago the Elders designed the world we live in, but they knew that through time and the advances in medicine and technology the world would slowly start to die and man would ultimately destroy the planet. The Elders created a prophecy that every two millennia four children would receive a mystical mark. The children would grow and one day be powerful enough to release the mighty beast Tyranacus, and purge the world of man, allowing it to heal before the life cycle would start again.
Margaret Threepwood was a gentle and loving wife and was due to give birth when tragedy struck and Margaret fell severely ill. The Gatekeeper of life and death appeared in the hospital ward and provided a one time deal that Margaret will live as long as her son Jimmy Threepwood was brought up unloved, uncared for and handed to the Gatekeeper and his minions on his eleventh birthday, where his destiny will be unveiled to him.
As Jimmy approached his eleventh birthday he noticed strange and unusual things happening. Firstly, a mysterious crow started to follow him around school; this ultimately led to a Bunson burner accident and an unusual 9 shaped scar forming on Jimmy’s arm. This was followed by Jimmy protecting his friend against the school bully, but one touch changed both Jimmy’s and the bullies’ lives forever.

Bewitching The Werewolf by Caroline Hanson

20 Aug

My friends think am a wuss but I usually do not read werewolf and vampire books because I’ll get nightmares. Still, we all have to face our fears if we are to move forward. I figure I am missing a lot of really cool books out there because of my phobia. I was therefore looking for something to help me ease into the genre again..So, after more than a year of not reading werewolf stuff, I found this delightful read that is my first baby step. Short, well-written and totally not scary. Sharing it right away

Did I mention it is currently free on Amazon Kindle? Oh, yeah.

Bewitching the Werewolf by Caroline Hanson

This is a short story– approximately 40 pages in length– and includes an excerpt from Love is Darkness, the first book in the Valerie Dearborn series.

**Please be aware that this book contains sex. And not in a fade-to-black-sort-of-way but an-OMG-that’s-in-public-sort-of-way**

READING LIST: Kiss And Makeup by Faye Robertson

10 Aug

My darlings,

Two jobs  and school is not leaving me enough time to do book reviews. Still, I want to update the blog regularly so you can get new books to check out. So, I’ll just be doing the short post thing until I have enough time to make it comprehensive. Bear with me and thank you for being so awesome. Thanks for sharing books and keep doing so.

Anywho….

All things movies intrigue me and that is why I picked out this book in a store when I came across it. I always wondered what make up artists do in movies and this gave me a bit of insight.

Kiss and Make Up by Faye Robertson

I’ll be honest here. I prefer light reads that will make me laugh and help me relax. It’s been a couple of months since I read one of those gripping serious book, you know?  Anyways, I put my laziness aside and read this and it felt good when I was done with it. You should try it too.

READING LIST: Through A Glass Darkly by Karleen Koen

9 Aug

This is one of my top 5 favourite books. I might read everything I come across but I am very picky when it comes to favourites. I recommend this 100%. She writes beautifully. She writes intelligently. She blew me away. I have reread it so many times in the 2 years that I have had it and I want to share it with you. I really hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

Through a Glass Darkly: A Novel by Karleen Koen

book description:

Karleen Koen’s sweeping saga contains unforgettable characters consumed with passion: the extraordinarily beautiful fifteen-year-old noblewoman, Barbara Alderley; the man she adores, the wickedly handsome Roger MontGeoffry; her grandmother, the duchess, who rules the family with cunning and wit; and her mother, the ineffably cruel, self-centered and licentious Diana. Like no other work, Through a Glass Darkly is infused with intrigue, sweetened by romance and awash in the black ink of betrayal.
