The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

21 Dec

I would not have picked this book out by myself. I read the little blurb about it when it was a bestseller and I ignored it because I was so done with teen fiction at the time. They are usually so predictable, you know? Then I went to YouTube and some vlogger was listing her favorite books of all time, and she could not stop gushing. I rolled my eyes and decided to give it a try. Am glad I did. This is not your regular teen fiction. It is a work of art that I read overnight, simply because I could not bear to take a break. I finished it around 3 am and had a good cry. Then I woke my boyfriend up to tell him how much I love him. HA. HA. This one snuck up on me and I was impressed. First book to reduce me to tears; in a good way.

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel’s story is about to be completely rewritten.

Insightful, bold, irreverent, and raw, The Fault in Our Stars is award-winning-author John Green’s most ambitious and heartbreaking work yet, brilliantly exploring the funny, thrilling, and tragic business of being alive and in love.
